FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON - The NAV CANADA St. Catharines Flight Service Station (FSS) has been a vital part of Niagara District Airport (YCM) for 35 years.

NAV CANADA flight service specialists provide essential aviation services that support the safe and efficient movement of aircraft throughout the Niagara region and across Canada. Their responsibilities include interpreting weather data and providing critical pilot briefings, processing flight plans, monitoring aircraft movements, and coordinating search efforts for overdue flights.

“For 35 years, NAV CANADA’s flight service specialists have helped pilots move safely in and out of the Niagara region. That record belongs to every person who has staffed this station, past and present, and to the strong partnership we share with Niagara District Airport and the community it serves,” says Roshan Amarnaney, NAV CANADA site manager. “We are proud of what the team has built here, and just as focused on delivering the same reliable, high-quality service for the next 35 years.”

Coast-to-coast-to-coast, flight service specialists provide service from FSS or flight information centres (FIC) across Canada, from urban areas like Niagara, to remote locations like Inuvik. Flight service specialists can specialize in a number of areas, including airport advisory services, flight information services, or international flight services. They are critical team members whose daily contributions ensure the safe and efficient passage of people and goods through Canadian airspace.

“NAV CANADA is an invaluable partner to Niagara District Airport,” says Dan Pilon, chief executive officer of the airport. “For 35 years, their team’s professionalism and dedication have helped keep our skies safe in Niagara and beyond. As we advance our Master Plan and future growth plans at YCM, having NAV CANADA on-site is instrumental to our success. We’re grateful for the continued commitment and expertise their team brings to our airport and the travellers we serve every day.”

To mark this milestone, NAV CANADA’s St. Catharines FSS team, airport staff, and additional stakeholders gathered for a celebration on the weekend, recognizing 35 years of service and partnership at Niagara District Airport.
