Our Future
2025-2045 Master Plan
Niagara is growing, and so are the needs around how the region connects.
Our 2025–2045 Master Plan sets a clear direction for how Niagara District Airport plans to evolve over time, balancing near-term priorities with the infrastructure and land protection required for future development.
The Master Plan identifies a set of core improvements that modernize facilities, strengthen safety, and prepare for expanded service over time, presented in a phased approach, tied to demand, funding, approvals, and operational readiness.
A Clear Plan for Strategic Redevelopment
Niagara District Airport's redevelopment is planned in stages, allowing improvements to align with demand, funding availability, approvals, and operational readiness.

Built for Long-Term Resilience
The Master Plan recognizes the importance of environmental stewardship and climate readiness — including both operational practices and long-term infrastructure planning.
Lower-emission aviation trends
Including Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF), described as having the potential to reduce lifecycle carbon dioxide emissions by up to 80% in certain applications
Electrification and efficiency
Including opportunities to reduce emissions through improved taxiway configuration (reducing taxi distance and engine idling) and electrification of equipment where appropriate
Renewable energy
Exploring sources such as solar, wind, hydrogen, and geothermal, including potential on-site options
Climate resilience planning
Identifying climate risks and reducing vulnerabilities through both retrofits and future-ready design (materials, drainage, equipment tolerance)
